CLM Installation: "Setup Interupted"
I'm attempting to install CLM from the FIM2010 RC media. It is being installed to a 2008 R2 RTM Enterprise x64 server with a subordinate Enterprise CA installed.Having run through the initial steps of running CLM.MSI I click install and it immediately returns with "setup was interupted". I can get a bit further by excluding the web components, but it eventually fails, rolls back and presents the "setup was interupted".I can find no logs anywhere. There is no clue that I can locate as why this package has such a tedious nature.Installing as "Enterprise Admin". Schema modifications installed okay.Where can I start looking for what is causing this problem?Paul

It seems I can install the CLM System Files on their own.I then go back and install the Web components only and get "setup was interupted".If I try to install the CA Files it comes back with something more "helpful"; telling me that .NET Framework 2.0.50727 is not installed.Yeah, right, this is Windows 2008. I'm getting a really bad feeling about this program.Anyone brave enough to tell me the bad news?Or is there actually some good news?Paul

Hi Anthony,It is an subordinate Enterprise CA installed along with NAP components. It was upgraded from 2008-R1 to R2 (for the Health Certificate enhancements to ADCS) and has the IIS role installed for the ADCS web components(plus the ASP.NET feature). The .NET Framework 3.5.1 feature is installed. Being Windows 2008 there is no option to install the v2 .NET Framework because it is there like it or not. ILM-2is installed on another machine along with SQL Server 2008.All machines are 64-bit Hyper-V VMs.My guess is CLM-2 pre-dates Windows 2008-R2 by quite a margin (how long has it been RC now?) and simply isn't supported on 2008-R2?Paul

I do not believe this...I get around to using Anthony's suggested commandline to see if it indicates any errors. The resulting log.txt had absolutely nothing to say about the error: That's because there is no error! The damn thing will not install by double-clicking it, but meekly gets on and does it from the commandline. Arrgh! Now where is the glue to stick my keyboard back together...Cheers

Make sure that you ran Setup.exe with Administrator elevation. Also, once installed, you need to also run the CLM Configuration wizard from an elevated state too.Make sure that you run clm.config.exe as Administrator.Brian

Hi,I just installed CM x64RC1on WS08R2 Enterprise and initially ran into error Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Forefront Identity Manager Certificate Management. Product Version: 4.0.2560.0. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Installation success or error status: 1602. I then followed Anthony's hint on logging Windows Installer and saw the following in the log file:FIM CM: MsiValidateWebDir: WEBAPPNAME = CertificateManagementFIM CM: GetObject(IIS://Localhost/W3SVC/1/Root) failed. I then installed IIS Role Service "IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility" and consequently CM installed flawlessly all three components :) This should be added into Introduction to Certificate Management.docxwithin "FIM 2010 RC1 IT Pro Documentation". Also, I wonder why SQL Server Replication should be installed on SQL Server 2008?HTHMika

Mika resurrecting this post of mine rang some alarm bells: I have another more recent post: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/virtualmachingmgrsetup/thread/71168c22-8aa0-47ae-a381-72ffcd549a78 The simularities are distressing! I have to resort to command-line installation (and alot of messing about besides) for SCVVM too. The GUI install fails with no logs for this application too. In that case there seemed to be some problem following the initial copying of setup files to the local machine; the handover to the copied files just never took place (hence no logs, the actual setup never began). What is Microsoft upto with their GUI installations? Am I the only person to be experiencing these problems?
